Kisspeptin-10
Reproductive HormonePhase 1-2 (fertility applications)Also known as: Kisspeptin, KISS1, Metastin, KP-10
Kisspeptin-10 is a 10-amino-acid C-terminal fragment of the KISS1 gene product. KISS1 was originally identified as a metastasis suppressor (hence the alternate name Metastin), but its dominant physiological role is upstream regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis.
Overview
At A Glance
Kisspeptin binds the KISS1R receptor (GPR54) on GnRH neurons, triggering pulsatile GnRH secretion via Gq-coupled signaling. GnRH then drives LH and FSH release from the anterior pituitary. In men, this stimulates Leydig cell testosterone production and Sertoli cell spermatogenesi…
Overview
Kisspeptin-10 is a 10-amino-acid C-terminal fragment of the KISS1 gene product. KISS1 was originally identified as a metastasis suppressor (hence the alternate name Metastin), but its dominant physiological role is upstream regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. Kisspeptin neurons in the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus drive pulsatile GnRH secretion - the trigger for LH/FSH release from the pituitary. Clinical research interest is concentrated in male hypogonadism, female anovulation, and as a non-suppressive alternative to HCG for HPG-axis support during testosterone-suppressing protocols.
