19-Me-BC
read the guidethe beta-carboline. in cell and rodent work it raises tyrosine hydroxylase, the enzyme that sets the pace of dopamine synthesis, and it inhibits MAO-A at about 1 micromolar.
evidence: rodent and cell data only. human safety data: none.
watch for: it inhibits MAO-A, so the serotonergic and stimulant conflicts below are the hard rule. beta-carbolines are photosensitising and DNA-damaging under UV in vitro. a second methylation gives 2,9-dimethyl-beta-carbolinium, a cation in the same family as MPP+, the metabolite that makes MPTP a Parkinson's model.
2L-Tyrosine
read the guidethe precursor. it gives the synthesis pathway substrate, which only matters if the pathway is the bottleneck.
evidence: decent human data for performance under acute stress and sleep loss. weak for mood in rested people.
watch for: competes with other amino acids for uptake. the blood-pressure concern comes from the MAOI and thyroid interactions, not from tyrosine on its own. thyroid conditions and MAOIs are reasons to skip it.

rodent neurorescue papers, cell culture, and forum reports for 9-Me-BC. no human trial has ever been run. the benefit chips you see elsewhere ('restores dopamine drive') describe rat data. tyrosine has human trials, mostly in sleep-deprived or cold-stressed subjects, and the effect fades in rested people.
