01Overview
What ProVigorous Blend is
The label mixes amounts in mg with amounts in mg/mL and does not say whether the mg figures are per mL or per vial. A PubMed search on 27 October 2026 found no published study of ProVigorous Blend or of this combination, so the evidence comes from separate studies of each ingredient, most of them using oral doses (PMID: 22137067, PMID: 32359762). The FDA has approved no product with this composition (Drugs@FDA, searched 27 October 2026).
How it works
What the label lists
ProVigorous Blend's label gives these amounts for a 20 mL vial, with the units exactly as printed: L-arginine 100 mg, L-citrulline 100 mg, L-carnitine 250 mg/mL, MIC complex (methionine, inositol and choline) 120 mg/mL, N-acetyl-L-tyrosine 20 mg, ATP 40 mg and AMP 5 mg/mL. The label does not say whether the amounts given in mg are per mL or per vial, and it does not give the split of methionine, inositol and choline within the MIC complex. No study of these ingredients together was found in PubMed on 27 October 2026, so this section describes each one on its own. BodyHackGuide's Vasodrive Amino Blend page covers a related blend of arginine, citrulline, ornithine and glutamine.

L-arginine and L-citrulline
L-arginine is the substrate of nitric oxide synthase, the enzyme that makes nitric oxide (PMID: 22137067). Taken by mouth, much of a dose of L-arginine is removed by the enzyme arginase in the gut before it reaches the circulation, while L-citrulline is readily absorbed and partly converted to L-arginine; in a crossover study of 20 healthy volunteers, oral L-citrulline raised plasma L-arginine more than oral L-arginine did (PMID: 17662090). Given intravenously, arginine reaches the blood directly: the FDA label for intravenous arginine hydrochloride (R-Gene 10) says the infusion often produces a pronounced rise in plasma growth hormone in people with intact pituitary function, the basis of its approved use as a diagnostic test (R-Gene 10 label, FDA, version of 2 April 2024). BodyHackGuide's L-citrulline guide covers citrulline in detail.
L-carnitine
The carnitine system carries fatty acids, as acylcarnitine esters, across the mitochondrial membrane for breakdown (beta-oxidation) (PMID: 29551309). Oral L-carnitine supplements are 14 to 18 percent bioavailable, and the kidneys reabsorb filtered carnitine efficiently until blood levels rise, after which clearance increases and blood levels fall back quickly (PMID: 15591001). In healthy men given 5-hour intravenous L-carnitine infusions, muscle carnitine rose only when insulin was also held high; with fasting insulin levels, high blood carnitine did not change muscle carnitine (PMID: 16368715). A follow-up study found that only insulin concentrations of about 90 mU/L or more stimulated muscle carnitine uptake (PMID: 17047160). Both studies come from the Greenhaff group at the University of Nottingham. BodyHackGuide's L-carnitine guide covers oral use.
MIC complex: methionine, inositol and choline
BodyHackGuide covers the methionine, inositol and choline combination in its Lipo-C guide. Methionine is an essential amino acid whose metabolism forms homocysteine as an intermediate (PMID: 15870821). Inositol, most often as myo-inositol, has been tested in randomized trials in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PMID: 36703143), and choline is an essential nutrient with roles from cell structure to neurotransmitter synthesis (PMID: 19906248). See the inositol and choline guides.
N-acetyl-L-tyrosine
Tyrosine is the precursor of the neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrine (PMID: 26424423). N-acetyl-L-tyrosine is an acetylated form used in intravenous nutrition solutions because acetylation makes tyrosine more soluble (PMID: 7815670). In a study of 11 healthy volunteers given 5 g of N-acetyl-L-tyrosine or of N-acetylcysteine by 4-hour intravenous infusion, plasma tyrosine rose by 25 percent with N-acetyl-L-tyrosine while 56 percent of the infused amount appeared in urine within 4 hours (PMID: 2507878). In another infusion study, N-acetyl-L-tyrosine did not raise plasma tyrosine in healthy people or in patients with liver failure, and most of it was lost in urine (PMID: 7705801). BodyHackGuide covers the oral forms in its N-acetyl-L-tyrosine and L-tyrosine guides.
ATP and AMP
Outside cells, ATP (adenosine triphosphate) and its breakdown product adenosine act on purinergic P1 and P2 receptors, and a cascade of enzymes on cell surfaces (ectonucleotidases) breaks extracellular ATP down (PMID: 10473017). Bolus injections of ATP and adenosine are used to diagnose and treat paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, a fast heart rhythm (PMID: 10473017). During 30-hour intravenous ATP infusions in lung cancer patients, ATP was taken up by red blood cells, whose ATP content rose 53 to 69 percent above baseline, and plasma uric acid rose (PMID: 10853877). Taken by mouth, ATP was not bioavailable: in a crossover trial in 8 healthy volunteers, blood ATP did not rise after 5,000 mg given in enteric-coated pellets or through a tube into the small intestine, while uric acid, the end product of ATP breakdown, rose by about 50 percent with release in the upper small intestine (PMID: 22510240). In people, AMP (adenosine monophosphate) is used as an inhaled bronchial challenge test because it narrows the airways in people with asthma but not in people without it (PMID: 16458886); as a treatment, a 1985 controlled trial gave it by injection into muscle for shingles (PMID: 3968773).
Oral studies and an injection
Route changes what reaches the blood for several of these ingredients: oral arginine is partly removed by gut arginase (PMID: 17662090), oral carnitine is 14 to 18 percent bioavailable (PMID: 15591001), oral ATP did not raise blood ATP (PMID: 22510240), and infused N-acetyl-L-tyrosine was largely lost in urine (PMID: 2507878). Because ProVigorous Blend is sold as a solution in a vial, oral supplement studies of its ingredients do not show what an injection of it would do, and no study measuring that was found in PubMed on 27 October 2026.

ProVigorous Blend side effects and interactions
Side effects
Common
- Intravenous arginine hydrochloride: nausea and vomiting, headache, numbness, local vein irritation and flushing in about 3 percent of patients across 1,670 infusions (R-Gene 10 label, FDA)
- Intravenous ATP: mild, transient side effects in 36 percent of 176 infusion courses, which resolved within minutes of slowing the infusion (PMID: 10853877)
- Levocarnitine: transient nausea and vomiting, and body odor (Carnitor label, FDA)
Serious events
- Oral L-arginine after a first heart attack: 6 deaths in the L-arginine group against none on placebo in a 153-patient trial (PMID: 16391217)
- Intravenous arginine hydrochloride: extravasation with skin necrosis needing surgery, anaphylaxis, and deaths from overdose in children (R-Gene 10 label, FDA)
- Injectable levocarnitine: anaphylaxis, laryngeal edema and bronchospasm, mostly in dialysis patients, and seizures (Carnitor label, FDA)
Who should not use it
Contraindications
In the VINTAGE MI trial, more patients died on oral L-arginine than on placebo after a recent first heart attack, and the trial stopped enrolling (PMID: 16391217).
Read all the contraindications and cautionsShow less
Oral L-arginine lowered blood pressure by about 5.4/2.7 mmHg in a meta-analysis (PMID: 22137067) and L-citrulline lowered systolic pressure by about 4.1 mmHg in another (PMID: 30788274), so low blood pressure and drugs that lower it (including nitrates and PDE5 inhibitors) are mechanism-based reasons for caution.
The R-Gene 10 label says the nitrogen load of intravenous arginine should be considered in patients with impaired kidney function and its chloride content in patients with electrolyte imbalance (R-Gene 10 label, FDA), and carnitine is cleared through the kidneys (PMID: 15591001).
The FDA label for levocarnitine reports seizures, and more frequent or more severe seizures in people with pre-existing seizure disorders (Carnitor label, FDA).
Heart rhythm disorders call for caution: injected ATP and adenosine act on heart rhythm, which is why bolus injections are used to diagnose and treat paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PMID: 10473017).
Inhaled AMP narrows the airways in people with asthma but not in people without it, which is why it is used as a bronchial challenge test (PMID: 16458886).
Gout or high uric acid is another reason for caution: intravenous ATP raised plasma uric acid in lung cancer patients (PMID: 10853877), and ATP released in the small intestine raised uric acid in healthy volunteers (PMID: 22510240).
The R-Gene 10 label carries a warning about children: overdose of intravenous arginine in children has caused death (R-Gene 10 label, FDA).
Interactions
2 pairings in our record: 1 with a caution and 1 to monitor.
Nitrates, PDE5 inhibitors and blood-pressure medicines
CautionOral L-arginine and L-citrulline lowered blood pressure in meta-analyses (PMID: 22137067, PMID: 30788274), and nitroglycerin acts through conversion to nitric oxide (PMID: 1928201); additive blood-pressure lowering is a mechanism-based caution, and no study of these combinations with ProVigorous Blend was found in PubMed on 27 October 2026.
Warfarin and other coumarin anticoagulants
MonitorThe FDA label for levocarnitine reports INR rises in patients on warfarin (Carnitor label, FDA), and case reports describe L-carnitine strengthening the anticoagulant acenocoumarol (PMID: 8429297, PMID: 15340883).

05Chemistry
Chemistry and structure
- Half-life
- No published human value for ProVigorous Blend. Values for single ingredients: after a slow intravenous injection of levocarnitine, the apparent terminal elimination half-life was 17.4 hours, uncorrected for the body's own carnitine (Carnitor label, FDA); after 30-hour intravenous ATP infusions in lung cancer patients, the extra ATP in red blood cells disappeared with a half-time of about 5.9 hours, measured in 5 patients (PMID: 10853877).
07Questions
Frequently asked questions
What is ProVigorous Blend?
ProVigorous Blend is a liquid sold for research in a 20 mL vial whose label lists L-arginine, L-citrulline, L-carnitine, an MIC complex of methionine, inositol and choline, N-acetyl-L-tyrosine, ATP and AMP. The ProVigorous Blend label mixes amounts in mg and in mg/mL, so the amount of several ingredients per mL is unclear.
Has ProVigorous Blend been studied?
No study of ProVigorous Blend or of its combination of ingredients was found in PubMed on 27 October 2026. The evidence for ProVigorous Blend's ingredients comes from separate studies of each compound, most of them using oral doses (PMID: 22137067, PMID: 32359762).
Why does the route matter for ProVigorous Blend's ingredients?
Oral ATP did not raise blood ATP in 8 healthy volunteers, while intravenous ATP raised ATP in red blood cells in cancer patients (PMID: 22510240, PMID: 10853877). Oral L-arginine is partly removed by gut arginase before it reaches the blood (PMID: 17662090). In two short infusion studies, intravenous N-acetyl-L-tyrosine raised plasma tyrosine by 25 percent or not at all, and much of it was lost in urine (PMID: 2507878, PMID: 7705801); in adults on continuous intravenous nutrition, about 35 percent of N-acetyl-L-tyrosine was lost in urine (PMID: 14621123).
Do the L-arginine and L-citrulline in ProVigorous Blend improve exercise performance?
A 2020 meta-analysis found that oral L-arginine improved aerobic and anaerobic test performance, but a 2025 published comment argued that the meta-analysis contains errors that distort its estimates (PMID: 32370176, PMID: 40733000). A 2019 meta-analysis found a small benefit of oral L-citrulline on strength and power output (PMID: 30895562), and a 2022 meta-analysis found no benefit of oral L-citrulline on aerobic performance (PMID: 36079738). The exercise meta-analyses of oral L-arginine and oral L-citrulline did not test ProVigorous Blend or injected arginine or citrulline.
What safety warnings apply to injected arginine and carnitine?
The FDA label for intravenous arginine hydrochloride (R-Gene 10) warns of tissue damage when the hypertonic solution leaks outside the vein and of deaths from overdose in children (R-Gene 10 label, FDA). For injectable levocarnitine, the FDA label reports anaphylaxis, mostly in dialysis patients, and seizures (Carnitor label, FDA). In the VINTAGE MI trial, oral L-arginine after a heart attack was linked to more deaths than placebo (PMID: 16391217).
Is ProVigorous Blend FDA approved?
ProVigorous Blend is not FDA approved, and Drugs@FDA lists no approved product with its composition (searched 27 October 2026). The FDA defines a dietary supplement as a product intended for ingestion, so the oral supplement status of arginine, citrulline or carnitine does not extend to an injectable solution such as ProVigorous Blend (FDA, Questions and Answers on Dietary Supplements).
How many vendors sell ProVigorous Blend, and what does it cost per mg?
1 of the vendors BodyHackGuide tracks list ProVigorous Blend (1 listing). The lowest listed price BodyHackGuide has recorded for ProVigorous Blend is $69.99. No ProVigorous Blend listing recorded as in stock carries a milligram count, so BodyHackGuide states no price per milligram for ProVigorous Blend.
Which vendors have third-party COAs for ProVigorous Blend on file at BodyHackGuide?
BodyHackGuide holds no third-party certificate records for ProVigorous Blend. Each vendor page on BodyHackGuide shows how many certificate records BodyHackGuide holds for that vendor.
