01Overview
What FocusX Blend is
A PubMed search on 27 October 2026 found no published study of FocusX Blend or of these three compounds given together. The human research on the ingredients studied each one apart from the other two, mostly by mouth: acetyl-L-carnitine in dementia and depression trials (PMID: 8797468, PMID: 29076953), L-carnosine in small memory trials in older adults (PMID: 42123986), and intravenous choline chloride in patients who depend on intravenous nutrition (PMID: 11531217). The FDA has approved no product with this composition (Drugs@FDA, searched 27 October 2026).
How it works
What the label lists
FocusX Blend's label gives choline chloride 150 mg/mL, acetyl-L-carnitine 150 mg/mL and L-carnosine 150 mg/mL, a combined 450 mg/mL, in a 20 mL vial. No study of the three compounds together was found in PubMed on 27 October 2026, so this section describes each ingredient on its own.

Choline chloride
Choline is a nutrient the US Institute of Medicine recognized as essential in 1998, with roles that run from cell structure to neurotransmitter synthesis (PMID: 19906248), and it is the precursor of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine (PMID: 39683633). In 4 patients who had depended on intravenous nutrition for years and had low plasma free choline, choline chloride added to the nutrition solution raised plasma free choline into the normal range within a week, and fatty liver seen on CT resolved over 6 weeks (PMID: 7590654). In a pharmacokinetic study in 4 such patients, choline levels during and after 12-hour intravenous infusions fit a two-compartment model, and a model with saturable elimination fit best in 3 of the 4 (PMID: 8143393). BodyHackGuide's choline guide covers choline as a nutrient.
Acetyl-L-carnitine
Acetyl-L-carnitine is the largest and functionally most important of the esters in the body's carnitine pool (PMID: 15591001). The carnitine system carries fatty acids, as acylcarnitine esters, across the mitochondrial membrane so they can be broken down for energy (beta-oxidation) (PMID: 29551309). After a single 500 mg intravenous injection in 6 healthy volunteers, plasma acetyl-L-carnitine rose quickly and returned to baseline within 12 hours, part of the dose appeared in blood as L-carnitine, and most of it was recovered in urine within 24 hours (PMID: 2591464). BodyHackGuide covers the oral forms in its acetyl-L-carnitine and L-carnitine guides.
L-carnosine
L-carnosine is a dipeptide of beta-alanine and histidine (beta-alanyl-L-histidine) found in skeletal muscle and other excitable tissues (PMID: 24137022). In laboratory studies, carnosine buffers pH, binds metal ions, acts as an antioxidant and protects against the formation of advanced glycation end-products (PMID: 24137022). In human blood, the enzyme serum carnosinase splits carnosine into histidine and beta-alanine (PMID: 24137022); carnosine added to human plasma in the laboratory had a half-life of about 1.2 minutes (PMID: 37081019). Unlike in rodents, carnosine in people is rapidly broken down by carnosinase-1, which a 2024 study described as a hurdle for translating rodent findings (PMID: 38960916).
Oral studies and an injection
Most human studies of these ingredients gave them by mouth, and the route changes what reaches the blood. Oral L-carnitine supplements have a bioavailability of 14 to 18 percent, most unabsorbed carnitine is broken down by gut bacteria, and laboratory experiments suggest that acetyl-L-carnitine is partly split in gut cells during absorption, although some is absorbed intact (PMID: 15591001). After oral carnosine, little remained detectable in plasma after 4 hours (PMID: 40647235). Because FocusX Blend is sold as a solution in a vial, oral supplement studies of its ingredients do not show what an injection of it would do, and no study measuring that was found in PubMed on 27 October 2026.

L-carnitine and acetyl-L-carnitine are cleared through the kidneys, where reabsorption of filtered carnitine is saturable (PMID: 15591001, PMID: 2591464), so reduced kidney function is a mechanism-based reason for caution.
The FDA label for levocarnitine reports seizures, and more frequent or more severe seizures in people with pre-existing seizure disorders, with oral or intravenous use (Carnitor label, FDA); acetyl-L-carnitine is partly converted to L-carnitine (PMID: 2591464).
The FDA label for levocarnitine reports rises in INR in patients on warfarin (Carnitor label, FDA), and case reports describe L-carnitine strengthening the effect of the anticoagulant acenocoumarol (PMID: 8429297, PMID: 15340883).
None of the studies summarized on this page enrolled pregnant women.
Interactions
2 pairings in our record: 1 with a caution and 1 to monitor.
Taxane chemotherapy (paclitaxel, docetaxel)
CautionIn the SWOG S0715 trial, acetyl-L-carnitine taken during taxane chemotherapy increased nerve damage at 24 weeks compared with placebo, and the difference persisted over two years (PMID: 23733756, PMID: 29361042).
Warfarin and other coumarin anticoagulants
MonitorThe FDA label for levocarnitine reports INR rises with warfarin (Carnitor label, FDA), and case reports describe L-carnitine strengthening the anticoagulant acenocoumarol (PMID: 8429297, PMID: 15340883); acetyl-L-carnitine is partly converted to L-carnitine (PMID: 2591464), and no report specific to acetyl-L-carnitine was found.

Values for single ingredients differ widely: carnosine added to human plasma in the laboratory had a half-life of about 1.2 minutes (PMID: 37081019), and plasma acetyl-L-carnitine returned to baseline within 12 hours of a 500 mg intravenous dose in 6 healthy volunteers (PMID: 2591464).
07Questions
Frequently asked questions
What is FocusX Blend?
FocusX Blend is a liquid sold for research in a 20 mL vial, labeled as containing choline chloride, acetyl-L-carnitine and L-carnosine at 150 mg/mL each. FocusX Blend has not been tested as a product in any study found in PubMed on 27 October 2026.
Has FocusX Blend been studied in humans?
No human or animal study of FocusX Blend, or of choline chloride, acetyl-L-carnitine and L-carnosine given together, was found in PubMed on 27 October 2026. The human evidence behind FocusX Blend's ingredients comes from separate studies of each compound, most of them using oral doses (PMID: 12598816, PMID: 42123986).
Does acetyl-L-carnitine, an ingredient of FocusX Blend, help memory?
A 2003 meta-analysis found a small advantage for acetyl-L-carnitine over placebo in mild cognitive impairment and mild Alzheimer's disease (PMID: 12598816). In a 1-year trial of 431 patients with Alzheimer's disease, people taking acetyl-L-carnitine declined at the same rate as people on placebo (PMID: 8797468). A 2003 Cochrane review found no evidence that acetyl-L-carnitine helps objective measures of cognition in dementia (PMID: 12804452). The acetyl-L-carnitine trials in dementia and mild cognitive impairment did not test FocusX Blend or an injection of its three ingredients together.
How long does the L-carnosine in FocusX Blend last in the blood?
Carnosine added to human plasma in the laboratory had a half-life of about 1.2 minutes, because the enzyme serum carnosinase breaks carnosine down (PMID: 37081019, PMID: 24137022). After oral L-carnosine in 16 healthy volunteers, little carnosine remained detectable in plasma after 4 hours (PMID: 40647235).
Is intravenous choline chloride used in medicine?
Intravenous choline chloride was tested in small trials in patients on long-term intravenous nutrition, where adding choline chloride to the infusion reduced liver fat (PMID: 7590654, PMID: 11531217). Choline chloride for injection is in a phase 2b/3 trial in people with intestinal failure and had no FDA approval as of 27 October 2026 (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT06910943; Drugs@FDA).
What safety findings exist for FocusX Blend's ingredients?
In a 409-woman trial, acetyl-L-carnitine taken during taxane chemotherapy worsened nerve damage compared with placebo (PMID: 23733756). In a dose-escalation study in 16 healthy volunteers, the authors judged single oral doses of L-carnosine up to 10 g well tolerated, although 3 of the 15 who took 10 g had side effects, and 10 of the 13 who took 15 g had side effects, most often headache, nausea or tingling (PMID: 40647235). No published safety data were found for FocusX Blend itself or for an injection of its three ingredients together.
Is FocusX Blend FDA approved or a dietary supplement?
FocusX Blend is not FDA approved, and Drugs@FDA lists no approved product with its composition (searched 27 October 2026). The FDA defines a dietary supplement as a product intended for ingestion, so the oral supplement status of choline, acetyl-L-carnitine and carnosine does not extend to an injectable solution such as FocusX Blend (FDA, Questions and Answers on Dietary Supplements).
How many vendors sell FocusX Blend, and what does it cost per mg?
1 of the vendors BodyHackGuide tracks list FocusX Blend (1 listing). The lowest listed price BodyHackGuide has recorded for FocusX Blend is $64.99. No FocusX Blend listing recorded as in stock carries a milligram count, so BodyHackGuide states no price per milligram for FocusX Blend.
Which vendors have third-party COAs for FocusX Blend on file at BodyHackGuide?
BodyHackGuide holds no third-party certificate records for FocusX Blend. Each vendor page on BodyHackGuide shows how many certificate records BodyHackGuide holds for that vendor.
