When to continue, reduce, or stop BPAP
Mild: continue protocol
Transient mild symptoms (slight GI upset, minor injection-site reaction, brief fatigue) typically resolve within 3-7 days as physiology adjusts. Continue at current dose; monitor weekly.
Moderate: reduce dose
Persistent mild symptoms past two weeks, or new symptoms like sustained mood changes, sleep disruption, or appetite shifts. Reduce dose by 25-50% and reassess at the end of the next 2-week window.
Severe: discontinue + seek care
Any signal of allergic response (rash, swelling, breathing difficulty), unexplained chest discomfort, severe injection-site reaction with infection signs, or vision changes. Discontinue immediately and consult a licensed practitioner.
BPAP contraindications
No contraindications are established for BPAP because no human study has been published. The cautions that follow are mechanism-based and come from laboratory findings. Stimulants and reuptake-blocking drugs. In reserpine-treated rats, BPAP greatly increased the motor effect of levodopa (PMID: 12527038). Pregnancy and breastfeeding. PubMed lists no reproductive or developmental study of BPAP.
