Synthetic peptide reference material. Synthetic cyclic heptapeptide characterized by an N-terminal acetyl group and a side-chain lactam bridge between its aspartic acid and lysine residues, which constrains the peptide into a conformationally rigid ring. Substitution of norleucine and D-phenylalanine for the native methionine and L-phenylalanine residues increases resistance to oxidation and improves handling stability. The molecule carries the formula C50H68N14O10 with a molecular weight of approximately 1025.2 g/mol and the sequence Ac-Nle-cyclo[Asp-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Lys]-OH.
