# Bioregulator Peptides (Khavinson Peptides)

Epitalon, Pinealon, Vesugen, Cortagen, Livagen, Thymogen and Pancragen, with the sequence and the source of each

## 01 Overview

the Khavinson peptides are short synthetic peptides of two to four amino acids, one designed per organ. each entry gives the sequence from a published paper, says where the literature comes from, and separates what an outside group has repeated from what only one institute reports. no amounts, no schedules.

### 02 Read this first

all of these are research use only and none of them is a BHG Labs product, so nothing on this page links to a store. nothing here is an amount, a schedule or a route. the idea that a two to four amino acid peptide enters a cell, reaches DNA and switches genes on is a published hypothesis from one institute, not a settled mechanism, and the gene-contact claims in these papers come from molecular docking software rather than measured binding. no bioregulator has an entry on FDA's compounding-risk page except epitalon, no registered trial of any of them exists on ClinicalTrials.gov, and for epitalon FDA found no human safety study at all.

## 03 The bench: 7 compounds

roles and evidence, not amounts. this page does not publish doses or schedules for research compounds.

01 Epitalonsmall human studies, no aging outcome

the guide (https://www.bodyhackguide.co/compound/epithalon)

Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, the pineal one and the flagship of the family. designed from the amino acid composition of epithalamin, a polypeptide complex extracted from cattle pineal gland, so the synthetic tetrapeptide and the gland extract are two different things.

evidence: cell culture for the telomere claim and mice for the lifespan and tumor claims, all from the originating institute. the one clear outside repetition is a 2025 Brunel University London paper that saw telomere lengthening in normal and in breast cancer cell lines, a paper whose three result figures were replaced by a correction in November 2025. two groups with no connection to the institute, in China and in Korea, have since reported effects on aging mouse and bovine oocytes, which is animal cell work rather than a human result.

watch for: FDA evaluated it in 2026 for insomnia, found no pharmacokinetic data, no clinical safety study and no two-year carcinogenicity study, and said the balance weighs against adding it to the compounding list. its own proposed mechanism, lengthening telomeres, is also how cells evade senescence.

02 Pinealonsmall human studies

the guide (https://www.bodyhackguide.co/compound/pinealon)

Glu-Asp-Arg, a tripeptide, named for the pineal gland and sold for the brain. the literature mostly calls it the EDR peptide.

evidence: cells and animals for the mechanism: with Lys-Glu-Asp it raised serotonin expression in aging rat brain cortex cultures, and the proposed explanation is molecular docking against a stretch of the tryptophan hydroxylase gene, which is a computer prediction rather than a measured binding. the human work is two small studies from Ural State Medical University in Ekaterinburg, 32 people aged 41 to 83 and 110 people across age groups, reporting changes in a composite biological age score.

watch for: the Ekaterinburg group, which is not the originating institute, reported alongside the benefit that the peptides showed prooxidant activity by chemiluminescence and that CD34 positive blood cell markers fell, which they read as inhibition of hematopoiesis. neither study was placebo-controlled or blinded, and both are published in a Russian-language gerontology journal.

03 Vesugensmall human studies

the guide (https://www.bodyhackguide.co/compound/vesugen)

Lys-Glu-Asp, a tripeptide, the vessel one. also spelled Vezugen in the Russian papers.

evidence: the mechanism work is cell culture and docking: it raised the proliferation marker Ki-67 in vascular endothelial cell cultures from old animals, with a predicted contact in the promoter of the gene that encodes Ki-67. the human record is a 41-patient study in vasculogenic erectile dysfunction reporting better penile artery blood flow, with the institute's founder as a co-author, plus the two Ekaterinburg studies above, one of which reported a more visible effect for Vesugen than for Pinealon while the other found the two together the most effective.

watch for: the erectile dysfunction study has no placebo arm described in its abstract and is published in Russian. the same prooxidant and hematopoiesis findings from Ekaterinburg apply to this peptide, since both were given together.

04 Cortagenanimal and cell only

the guide (https://www.bodyhackguide.co/compound/cortagen)

Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro, a tetrapeptide designed from the amino acid analysis of Cortexin, a brain cortex preparation. it is a cortex peptide, not a heart peptide, whatever the marketing says.

evidence: animals and cells. the clearest published experiment is a mouse heart microarray: five days of injections, 15,247 transcripts read, 234 clones and 110 known genes changed, with the largest shifts up 5.4-fold and down 2.9-fold. it also appears in the Tbilisi chromatin work on lymphocytes taken from people aged 75 to 88. the institute states in print that Cortagen helped posttraumatic recovery of peripheral nerve tissue in people, but I could not retrieve a trial behind that sentence.

watch for: the mouse heart result is an expression profile, not an outcome, and the paper itself frames it as a search for molecular targets. Cortagen itself was never tested against placebo in a person.

05 Livagenex vivo cells only

the guide (https://www.bodyhackguide.co/compound/livagen)

Lys-Glu-Asp-Ala, a tetrapeptide, the liver one. in the literature it is used mostly as a tool for chromatin experiments rather than for the liver.

evidence: lymphocytes drawn from old people and treated in a dish. the peptide decondensed tightly packed chromatin, activated ribosomal genes and loosened pericentromeric regions of chromosomes 1 and 9 in cells from donors aged 75 to 88. that is the whole of the human-tissue evidence: cells from people, not people treated.

watch for: the chromatin work comes from a long-running collaboration between the St Petersburg institute and a group in Tbilisi, with the institute's founder as a co-author on the early papers, so it is not an outside check on the institute's claims. loosening condensed chromatin is described as activation, with no outcome attached.

06 Thymogensmall human studies

the guide (https://www.bodyhackguide.co/compound/thymogen)

Glu-Trp, a dipeptide, the thymus one. it was pulled out of Thymalin, a calf thymus peptide complex, by reversed-phase chromatography, so here the extract came first and the two-amino-acid molecule came out of it.

evidence: its human record is Russian clinical work rather than registration trials. an 84-patient study in obsessive-compulsive and tic conditions used it inside a three-part regimen with mexidol and hyperbaric oxygen, so its own contribution cannot be separated. animal work includes a rat liver injury model where analogues outperformed the parent peptide.

watch for: every human report found puts it in a combination, which is the hardest design to read. in one cell study it was the most effective of the five peptides tested there, Epitalon, Vilon, Thymogen, Thymalin and Chonluten, at lowering IL-17 release from activated macrophages, and the authors of that paper include the institute's founder.

07 Pancragensmall human studies

the guide (https://www.bodyhackguide.co/compound/pancragen)

Lys-Glu-Asp-Trp-NH2, a tetrapeptide, the pancreas one, and the only one here with a numerical human metabolic result.

evidence: rats, monkeys and a small human study. in streptozotocin-diabetic rats oral peptide lowered blood glucose and intramuscular peptide normalized capillary endothelial adhesion. in nine old rhesus monkeys it lowered basal glucose, as did the comparison drug glimepiride. a Kiev study examined 30 healthy older people and 33 with type 2 diabetes, and reports lower fasting glucose, lower insulin and a lower insulin resistance index in the diabetic patients who received the peptide, with no change in those who did not.

watch for: the human study is small, open and from the institute's own collaboration with the Kiev Institute of Gerontology, and the untreated group is a comparison rather than a placebo arm. an anti-diabetic claim in people with diabetes is the kind of claim that needs a controlled trial, and there is not one.

timeline

the one human course with a stated length ran 20 days, the monkey study ran ten days of injections, and the mouse work ran five consecutive days a month; no study followed anyone long enough to measure aging

schedule

not applicable, no schedule published. the courses in the papers were short and fixed: ten days of injections in the monkey study, five consecutive days a month in the mouse tumor work.

### 05 Why these together

they are one family by design. in 1983 Vyacheslav Morozov and Vladimir Khavinson reported that tissues make small peptides that carry regulatory information, and over the following decades the St Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology extracted more than twenty peptide complexes from organs including brain, blood vessels, heart, liver, bronchi, kidneys, pancreas, prostate and testes, read their amino acid composition, and had short synthetic peptides made to match: one for the pineal gland, one for the thymus, one for vessels, one for the cortex, one for the liver, one for the pancreas. a 2022 paper written with the institute calls them the Khavinson Peptides, which is a fair description of where the literature comes from.

### 06 Overlap

the sequences overlap heavily. Glu and Asp sit in almost all of them, Epitalon is Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly and Cortagen is Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro, one amino acid apart, while Vesugen is Lys-Glu-Asp and Livagen is that same tripeptide plus alanine. the organ-specific story asks a lot of those single-residue differences. in the papers that tested several together, the effects reported are also similar. one cell study, in THP-1 macrophages, tested Epitalon, Vilon, Thymogen, Thymalin and Chonluten side by side: all five lowered TNF and IL-6, and all but Vilon raised the same kinase signal. a 2004 chromatin study tested five short peptides, three of them on this bench, and all five loosened condensed chromatin in leukocytes from people aged 75 to 88, differing only in which chromosome moved.

### 07 Conflicts

no interaction study exists for any of these peptides with any drug, in any species, so there is nothing to report and that absence is the finding. three specific cautions are sourced. first, the Ekaterinburg group, working without the institute, reported prooxidant activity and falling CD34 positive cell markers while two of them were given together. second, Thymogen's human record is always inside a combination, which makes a bad baseline for adding anything else. third, Pancragen lowered glucose in rats, monkeys and a small human group, so anyone on glucose-lowering medication is stacking an unmeasured effect on a measured one.

### 08 What the evidence actually is

the shape of this literature matters more than any single result. one institute in St Petersburg produced most of it over four decades, much of it in Russian-language gerontology journals, and the groups that look like outside confirmation often are not: the early Tbilisi chromatin papers and the Italian cell papers list the institute's founder as a co-author, though the 2023 Tbilisi paper does not. what does hold up as outside work is narrow and recent: a 2025 cell study at Brunel University London that repeated epitalon's telomere lengthening, since corrected for its three result figures, two animal-oocyte studies in China and Korea, and the Ekaterinburg human studies that reported both a benefit and a safety signal. the one randomized placebo-controlled human study of any of these peptides is a small sublingual epitalon study from the institute's own group, which measured a urinary melatonin metabolite, and no trial of any of them is registered.

### 09 What people report

no study here collected user reports. what was measured in people is a urinary melatonin metabolite, in one small placebo-controlled epitalon study, and a composite biological age score, penile artery blood flow and fasting glucose, each in a small study with no placebo arm.

### Who It's For

people who keep seeing a dozen bioregulators sold one per organ and want the sequence, the source and the strength of evidence for each

### What to Track

sleep timing, a fixed cognitive or exercise test, fasting glucose if a pancreas peptide is involved, and a blood count, since one outside group reported falling CD34 positive cell markers
