# Lipo-C

Weight Loss (https://www.bodyhackguide.co/wiki#cat-weight-loss)No clinical trials of the blend (marketed compounded injection)

Also known as: L-Carnitine MIC ATP, MIC + ATP, Lipotropic Injection, Lipolytic Blend, Lipo Fat Burner Blend, Lipo Fat Burner, MIC injection, Optimum Lipolytic, Optimum Lipolytic Research Blend

Lipo-C (also sold as a MIC or "lipotropic" injection) is a compounded blend of methionine, inositol, and choline, usually with vitamin B12 and sometimes L-carnitine, marketed by medspas and weight-loss clinics to support fat metabolism and energy. The individual nutrients have real, defined metabolic roles and some modest human data, but almost all of that evidence is from oral or dietary intake, and the injectable blend itself has no clinical trials demonstrating fat loss.

## Overview

### At A Glance

Mechanism

Half-Life

Not applicable to the blend; the water-soluble components (choline, inositol, B-vitamins, carnitine) are cleared over hours to a few days, and excess is largely excreted.

Dosing

1 to 2 times per week (intramuscular; occasionally subcutaneous)

Dose Range

1 mL of a compounded MIC blend intramuscularly, 1 to 2x per week. No standardized dose exists; concentrations vary by compounding pharmacy.

Potential Benefits

Supplies choline and methionine, methyl donors the liver uses to package and export triglycerides (most relevant when dietary intake is low) [PMID:30681159] Provides inositol, which improved ovarian function and produced modest weight loss versus placebo in a randomized trial in women with PCOS [PMID:15206484] When L-carnitine is included, adds a cofactor for shuttling fatty acids into mitochondria; oral carnitine yields a modest average weight reduction in meta-analyses [PMID:32359762] B12 (when included) supports energy and red-cell metabolism, but relieves fatigue only when a genuine deficiency is present May help correct sub-optimal choline status, which is associated with a higher risk of hepatic steatosis [PMID:37513629] Popular anecdotally as an energy 'kickstart' adjunct to a calorie-controlled diet, though these effects are subjective and unproven

Safety Notes

Common

Injection-site pain or redness, mild nausea, transient diarrhea, headache.

### Mechanism of Action

Lipo-C is a "lipotropic" injection built on the MIC base, methionine, inositol (https://www.bodyhackguide.co/compound/inositol), and choline (https://www.bodyhackguide.co/compound/choline), usually combined with vitamin B12 and sometimes L-carnitine (https://www.bodyhackguide.co/compound/l-carnitine). The rationale is borrowed from classic nutritional biochemistry: choline and methionine are methyl donors the liver uses to synthesize phosphatidylcholine and package triglycerides into VLDL for export, so a deficiency in either causes fat to accumulate in the liver [PMID:30681159][PMID:23305254]. Inositol participates in insulin signaling and cellular lipid handling, and carnitine shuttles long-chain fatty acids into mitochondria for beta-oxidation. B12 is a cofactor for regenerating methionine and for red-cell and energy metabolism. The marketing leap is the assumption that injecting these nutrients into an already well-nourished person will accelerate whole-body fat loss. That step is not supported: the lipotropic mechanism prevents or reverses fat accumulation under deficiency, but no trial shows it strips fat from people who are already nutrient-replete. Any real-world weight loss on a Lipo-C protocol comes from the accompanying calorie deficit, not the injection. Research Use Only.

Covered here for research and harm-reduction context only. Research Use Only.

### What to Expect

- • There is no clinical trial of the Lipo-C / MIC injection itself, so any effect on body weight is unproven and small at best.
- • Most people notice nothing dramatic; reported effects on energy or appetite are subjective and heavily shaped by the accompanying diet and calorie deficit.
- • Any meaningful fat loss comes from the calorie deficit and exercise the injection is paired with, not from the injection alone.
- • If a B12-containing formula is used and you were genuinely deficient, you may notice improved energy; if you were already replete, expect no energy change.
- • Injection-site stinging or redness and mild, short-lived nausea or loose stools are the most common actual experiences.

Individual responses vary. Timeline based on commonly reported research observations.

## Frequently Asked Questions

What is Lipo-C?

Lipo-C is a compounded 'lipotropic' injection built on the MIC base: methionine, inositol, and choline, usually with vitamin B12 and sometimes L-carnitine. Medspas and compounding pharmacies market it as a fat-metabolism or energy 'boost.' It is not an FDA-approved drug and is covered here for research context only.

Does Lipo-C actually burn fat?

There is no clinical trial of the injection showing it burns fat. The lipotropic idea is extrapolated from the fact that choline and methionine prevent fat build-up in the liver under deficiency. In a well-nourished person, any weight loss on a Lipo-C protocol comes from the diet and calorie deficit it is paired with, not the shot.

What is actually in it?

The core is methionine, inositol, and choline (MIC). Most formulas add vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin or methylcobalamin), and some add L-carnitine, a B-complex (B1/B2/B5/B6), or L-arginine. Concentrations vary widely by pharmacy because there is no standardized formula.

How is this different from just taking oral choline, inositol, or carnitine?

Mechanistically it delivers the same nutrients by injection instead of by mouth. The human evidence that exists (modest weight signals for inositol and carnitine, liver-fat effects for choline) is almost all from oral dosing. No study has shown the injection outperforms an adequate diet or oral supplementation.

Is it safe?

The individual nutrients are water-soluble and generally low-toxicity at supplemental doses, with excess mostly excreted. The most common effects are injection-site stinging or redness, mild nausea, loose stools, and headache. The real-world risk with any compounded injectable is product quality: sterility and accurate labeling depend entirely on the source.

Is Lipo-C FDA-approved?

No. It is not an approved drug. Its ingredients are dietary nutrients supplied through compounding pharmacies. BodyHackGuide covers it for research and harm-reduction context only, not as medical advice.

Can I use it alongside semaglutide or tirzepatide?

It is often stacked with GLP-1 medications at weight-loss clinics, but there is no interaction or added-benefit data for the combination. Any meaningful fat loss in that stack is driven by the GLP-1 drug and the diet, not the lipotropic blend.

How many vendors sell Lipo-C, and what does it cost per mg?

2 of the vendors BodyHackGuide tracks list Lipo-C (2 listings). The lowest listed price BodyHackGuide has recorded for Lipo-C is $54.99. No Lipo-C listing recorded as in stock carries a milligram count, so BodyHackGuide states no price per milligram for Lipo-C.

Which vendors have third-party COAs for Lipo-C on file at BodyHackGuide?

BodyHackGuide holds 10 third-party certificate records for Lipo-C, from. No editor has read any of BodyHackGuide's 10 certificate records for Lipo-C. The laboratory named on BodyHackGuide's Lipo-C certificate records is Freedom Diagnostics Testing, and the newest test date on them is 10 August 2026. Each vendor page on BodyHackGuide shows how many certificate records BodyHackGuide holds for that vendor and links to each record that has its own page.

The rationale is borrowed from classic nutritional biochemistry: choline and methionine are methyl donors the liver uses to synthesize phosphatidylcholine and package triglycerides into VLDL for export, so a deficiency in either causes fat to accumulate in the liver PMID:30681159. Research Use Only.",
